Meet Your Ultimate Pageant Mentor
Maria-Teresa (who primarily goes by “MT”) is a pageant enthusiast who started Pageants 2 Go in her dorm room fifteen years ago as a college freshman. Involved in the industry as a contestant, queen, staff member, and judge for more than 25 years, during her years as a competitor she captured several local, state, national, and international titles for Miss American Coed (MAC), National American Miss (NAM), International Junior Miss (IJM), Mrs. America, and the Miss America Organization. She is a two-time National American Miss National Talent winner and has also captured NAM's National Actress, Volunteer Service, and Academic Achievement titles as well as placing 1st runner-up overall at the 2008 National Miss pageant, 2nd Runner-Up at the 2007 All-American Miss pageant, and 7th at the 2004 National Teen pageant. In her years as a competitor with American Coed and National American Miss, MT holds the unique distinction of having won every optional competition at either the state or national level - from Most Promising Model to Best Resume to Spokesmodel Winner.
MT graduated a year early from the Schreyer Honors College at the Pennsylvania State University with her B.S. in Crime, Law, and Justice with Honors where she also completed minors in English and Business. She was a 2009 Teach For America corps member in the DC Metro Area. In 2011, she received her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Early Childhood Education from George Mason University in Virginia. MT was the founding principal of an elementary school in DC's Anacostia neighborhood and worked in public education for nearly a decade.
Currently, MT resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband Sam, three fur-babies, daughter Charlotte (and future NAM Princess hopeful!), and son Nicklas. As of January 2018, Pageants 2 Go (and her family!) has become her full time focus and she runs and manages all aspects of her flourishing business.
MT applies the same pedagogy she's learned and perfected during her career working in education - coaching teachers and school leaders - to inform and guide her work with young women across the country who are seeking to pursue and achieve their goals. The skills she seeks to impart on her clients will be utilized far beyond pageant weekend and will help young women to achieve much more than a crown and banner.
Fun Fact: Many of the young women (and pageant parents!) currently operating pageant consulting businesses started as clients of Pageants 2 Go.
